James C. Schry

James C. Schry, 92, of Ellport passed away on Friday, July 10, 2015, in the Carriage Court on Route 65, New Castle. Born January 5, 1923, in Kittanning, PA, he was the son of the late Leo and Mary (O'Connor) Schry. He graduated from Kittanning High School in 1940 and then went to St. Vincent College. Jim enlisted into the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945 and served in World War II where he served in the South Pacific. He then returned to St. Vincent College to earn a degree in Industrial Management. He re-enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1948 and served until 1952. Jim was employed by GC Murphy as a manager in training and worked in Ellwood City and Youngstown. In 1954, Jim started Culligan Water Conditioner in Ellwood City and worked there until his retirement in 1993. Jim and his brother Fred opened the original Cully's Restaurant in the late 1960's. Some of his favorite times were hunting with his compound bow on his farm in Kennerdale. He also enjoyed hunting in Montana with his brother-in-law Ed and grandson Seth Timpano. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Jane (Edward) Timpano, Lewistown, MT, and Lynn Schry, West Pittsburg; two grandsons, Dr. Nathan James Timpano and his wife Dr. Kiara Timpano, Miami, FL, and Seth Timpano, Seattle, WA; a brother, Frederick (Donna) Schry, Ellwood City; his former wife, Patricia Mehard Schry; special friends, whom were like family, Kathy and Fred Mazzanti and their children Kevin and Melissa, and several nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bart James Schry, and his sister and brother-in-law, Robert and Sara Beatty. Family and friends may call on Monday, July 20, 2015, in the JOSEPH A. TOMON JR. FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport, from 10 a.m. until time of Blessing Service at noon, with Rev. Zachary Galiyas officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in James' name to your charity of choice. The family would like to thank the Carriage Court staff and Three Rivers Hospice for their loving care. The Veterans Honor Guard will meet in the funeral home on Monday at 11:45 a.m. to provide full military honors for James.
