About Us
During a time of loss, you need the help of compassionate experts who can offer guidance and support throughout the planning process. At Joseph A. Tomon Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, we believe that every life deserves to be celebrated. Our mission is to assist families in creating personalized funeral experiences that honor the life of their loved ones.
History
From August 10, 1913, until the day our old location closed, our doors were open to Ellwood City and its families. Our former building at 123 5th Street was the longest continuously operating funeral home in Ellwood City, serving the community for 88 years and through three different Ellwood City families. That building was operated by four generations of funeral directors.
Twenty-five years after purchasing the funeral home on 5th Street, Joseph A. Tomon, Jr., provided the Ellwood area with its first and only full-service funeral home. He knew this was the opportunity of a lifetime. Construction began on the new Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory on November 17, 2003, and was completed in just six short months. A ribbon cutting was held on June 2, 2004, and the new building at 97 Grim Avenue in Ellport was open for business.
We’ve started a family tradition of funeral service, and we encourage you to start your own family tradition here with us. The Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory is the best the Ellwood area has to offer.
