Rex A. McKinney, 61 of 101 Golf Avenue, Ellport passed away at the ER of the Ellwood City Hospital on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 5:17 PM. Born in Ellwood City on August 5, 1951 Rex was the son of the late Paul "Bus" and Kathleen "Kaye" Allen McKinney. Rex is survived by his wife the former Lynn Brown whom he married on June 7, 1973. He had worked at NALCO as a purchasing agent. A 1969 graduate of Riverside High School, Rex was an avid reader and Steeler and Penguin fan. He enjoyed metal detecting, fishing and hunting and was a member of the Zelienople Sportsman Club. Rex was a former volunteer with the Little Angels and Youth Girls softball leagues. Besides his wife Lynn McKinney at home he is survived by two children, Megan McKinney and Joshua McKinney both of Ellwood City, his two grandchildren whom he loved dearly and enjoyed spending time with, Jacoby and Bailey McKinney, two sisters, Susan and Gary Hazen of Palmetto, FL and Dana and Blaise Banko of Ellwood City and a brother, Stephen and Julie McKinney of Ellwood City and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Rex was preceded in death by a sister, Paula Leasure. Friends may call at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 8 PM on Tuesday by Pastor Thomas A. O'Brien of the 1st Christian Church.
