b. August 30, 1919

Michael F. Kilar, 92, of Lima, OH, formerly of Ellwood City passed away in his residence on Tuesday, June 19th at 6:00 PM. Michael was born in Argentine, PA on August 30, 1919 to the late Francis F. and Anna Flipchak Kilar. He married Betty Kilar, who preceded him in death. On September 5, 1964, he married Sara Piconi Mariotti who also preceded him in death. He attended Lincoln High School and was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Navy aboard the SS George E. Hale. He retired from B & W Steel in Beaver Falls after 32 years of service. Michaeal was a member of Holy Redeemer Church and a former member of VFW Post 252 and the Polish Club in Ellwood City. He is survived by a step-son, Pete R. Mariotti and a step-daughter, Rita Mariotti Laszlo, both of Lima, OH, five step-grandchildren: Julie Mariotti, Americo Mariotti, Douglas Mariotti, Jamie Laszlo and Shannon Laszlo, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wives, Michael was preceded in death by five sisters: Julia Follett, Nellie Hinzel, Pauline Jopchak, Margaret Platek and Della Florentine. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 22nd from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 23rd at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church with Fr. Lou Pascazi. Entombment will follow in the Slippery Rock Church Cemetery Mausoleum.
