Mary Elizabeth "Bettie" Kirker, 88 formerly of R. Hazel Ave., Ellwood City passed away on January 3, 2012 at 12:10 P.M. in the Good Samaritan Hospice Home in Wexford. Born in Ellwood City on March 1, 1923, Bettie was the daughter of the late James Addison and Ida M. Kiesling Kirker. She retired in 1975 from the Ellwood Works of US Steel where she was a secretary. Mary was a member of Wurtemburg United Methodist Church and a graduate of Lincoln High School. Bettie is survived by a sister, Dorothy Jeanne Hess of Chillicothe, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Aletha Miller, Esther McKinney and Fanchion Hazen and 2 brothers, Delmar "Clair" Kirker and James A. Kirker, Jr. There will be a private funeral service on Saturday, January 7, 2011 in the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport. Interment will follow in Wurtemburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made in Bettie's name to Wurtemburg United Methodist Church.
To all of you, but especially Jeanne, I was so sorry to read about Betti. Fanchion and Betti would always be together and in church you, Jeanne, would be playing the organ. What wonderful memories I have of the three of you! Sending my sincere sympathy. .
