Mary Anne was a lifelong sports enthusiast. A talented baseball player as a youngster, she was often portrayed by her childhood friends as being "the best ball-player amongst us." As an adult she played softball for many years on the McDowell's Koppel team and was also was an avid bowler, playing in leagues and tournaments around Ellwood and beyond. A fierce Pittsburgh Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins fan, she also followed many of the local college and high school sports teams.
