Mary Ann Swanik, 87 formerly of Ellwood City pass away on Friday, January 4, 2013 at Edison Manor in New Castle, PA. Born in Arden, PA on January 12, 1925, Mary Ann was the daughter of the late Richard and Anna Casey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen R. Swanik who passed away on November 1, 1982. Mary Ann worked as a clerk at JC Penneys in Ellwood City for over 25 years. She was a member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church and the DAV Auxiliary in New Castle. She and her husband visited VA Hospitals in this area for many years. Mary Ann was a graduate of Trinity High School in Washington, PA. Mary Ann is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Nancy Swanik of Pahrump, NV, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Mary Ann was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey J. Swanik, 2 brothers, Harry and Edward Schmidt and a sister, Cathryne Casey. Private interment will be in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory.

Sorry to hear about your Mom. I worked with her at JCPenney's when I was in high school. She became a friend, always there to help & guide me at Penny's. We had a lot of fun working together and went out to lunch many times. Will sadly miss her. Remember you,Stephen,you used to come into store with your Dad.
