Kenneth L. Vangorder

Kenneth L. VanGorder, 77, of Boyers, PA, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at West Penn Hospital surrounded by his family.

Born on January 21, 1942 in Ellwood City, Ken was the son of the late Raymond and Katherine Bentrim VanGorder. He married the former Joann Kelly and they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage on October 18th. A 1960 graduate of Lincoln High School, Ken was a gifted woodworker who made beautiful furniture for his children and their families. He loved hunting and being outdoors, watching the wildlife from his front porch. He could also be found outside flying one of his drones from time to time.

Ken is survived by his wife, Joann VanGorder, of Boyers, his children and their spouses: Jeffrey and Debbie VanGorder of Boyers, Kelly and Scott Rice of Ellwood City, Mark and Tammy VanGorder of Cabot, AR, and Shawn VanGorder and Jennifer Tomon of Wurtemburg, fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brother, Edward VanGorder and a granddaughter, Chastity VanGorder.

Friends will be received on Thursday, October 17th from 3:00 PM to the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. Private interment will take place at Slippery Rock Cemetery.
