John L. Lucas, 79 of 1118 Harry St., Sharon passed away at Nugent Convalescent Home on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 6:30 PM. Born in Sharon on August 4, 1933, John was the son of the late Stephen and Mary Kraynak Lukac. John was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Gulley on September 16, 1975. John was a 1951 graduate of Sharon High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He retired from Westinghouse after 33 years of service as a computer systems analyst. John was a veteran of the Army where he served as a anti-aircraft fire control operator. He also severed 10 years in the Army Reserves. He was a member of St. John's Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Church and a life member and past president of the American Carpo-Russ Club in Sharon. He was also a member of the AARP and Sharon Westinghouse Retirees Association. John is survived by a daughter, Holly Lucas of Boston, MA, 2 sons, John and his wife Buttons Lucas of Brookfield, OH and Charles Lucas at home, a stepson, Michael Peacher of Nebraska, 2 grandsons and 3 great grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Robin Stip and 2 brothers, Joseph and George Lukac. Friends may call at the Tomon Funeral & Cremation Services in the Harold W. Stevenson Funeral Home, 264 E. State St., Sharon on Sunday, July 14, 2013 from 4 to 7 PM. A Panachida will be offered at 6:45 PM in the Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at St. John's Orthodox Cemetery Chapel on Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11 AM with Fr. David Mastroberte. If you are attending the service you are asked to meet at the chapel at 10:45 AM. Interment will follow in St. John's Orthodox Cemetery.
