John B. Correll, 80, of 313 Orchard Avenue, Ellwood City, passed away in the Ellwood City Hospital on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 7:55 A.M. Born in Centralia, Illinois, on December 16, 1928, John was the son of the late Otto and Mae Stroud Correll. He retired from the Mooseheart Child City and School in Mooseheart, Illinois where he and his wife were house parents. John was a member of Bell Memorial Presbyterian Church and a member of the Moose Lodge. A Veteran of the US Navy, he served during the Korean War. After his retirement, John worked part time at Stonecrest Golf Course and Fox Run Golf Course and he enjoyed playing golf. He is survived by his wife, the former Jean Rice, whom he married June 24, 1951, a son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Ann Correll of Lake Wales, FL, a daughter and son-in-law, Debbi and Tom White of Farmington, NY, 3 grandchildren: David Correll, Nicole and Bryon White, and a great-grandson, Lucas Correll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 step-sisters and his mother-in-law, Lillie Rice. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 30th from 10-11 AM at Bell Memorial Church, 610 Line Avenue, Ellwood City. A Memorial Service will be held directly following the visitation at 11:00 AM at Bell Memorial Church.
