Jill Theresa Straw Mclaughlin

Jill Theresa Straw McLaughlin, 53 of Fombell passed away at her home on January 26, 2011 at 7:20 P.M. She was born in Ellwood City on October 7, 1957 to Sarah "Sally" Douds Straw of Ellwood City and the late Charles Straw. Jill was preceded in death by her husband, John McLaughlin in 1982. She was a secretary at Herr-Voss and later owned and operated Jill's Etc. in the Emporium where she sold handpainted clothes. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Church. She played pool for the Keystone in the 1980's until the advancement of her MS. She was a Steeler fan and enjoyed knitting, crochet and needlepoint. In addition to her mother she is survived by her companion of 25 years, Robert "Flip" Philips of Fombell and her brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Lexie Straw of Jacksonville, FL. A Memorial Service for Jill will be held on Monday, April 18th at 1:00 PM at the Locust Grove Cemetery Mausoleum with Fr. Lou Pascazi. Arrangements were entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport.

Today as sit and reflect on the loving energy that your dear Jill shared with all of those lives that she touched I realize how blessed I am to have known Jill. As I first observed Jill in your flea market booth in St Augustine, Florida she lit up the whole booth with her precious smile. Meeting Jill was love at first sight. Then I had the opportunity to visit her in her Pa. home and then I knew of the roots of her spirit and joy. Jill was fed daily from the running stream next to her home. Jill had a wonderful "twinkle" in her eyes and her heart - an extension of the whole Straw family. That "twinkle" is now with her "Daddy" and "Grandma"that she prayed so hard to be with.
