James V. Capone, 94, of Ellport, passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at Heritage Valley Beaver.
Born in Ellwood City on January 25, 1923, James was the son of the late Mike and Lucy Abrunzo Capone. James met his wife, the former Joyce Pantling, in Europe while he was serving in the Army during WWII. They were married on July 14, 1945 and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2007, a week shy of their 62nd anniversary. He retired as a straightening operator in the hot finish from the Beaver Falls plant of B&W in 1985 after 39 years of service. James was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. He enjoyed traveling and gambling, but he really enjoyed his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his beloved pets, Emma and Cory. Always quick with his wit and his humor, “Clarence” enjoyed giving folks around town a good-spirited hard time.
James is survived by his children; Carol MacDonald of Ellwood City, Barbara (John Patrick) White of Ellwood City and Michael (Cindy) Capone of Spring Hill, FL, 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and his wife, James was preceded in death by two brothers, Dom and John Capone, two sisters, Louise Buzzelli and Mary Abarro and a son-in-law, Jim MacDonald.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 18th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A blessing service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 19th at 10:00 am with Fr. Mark Thomas of Holy Redeemer Church. Full military rites will be offered by the Veteran’s Honor Guard. Interment will take place at Locust Grove Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in James’ name to the Lawrence County Humane Society, 628 Pearson Mill Rd., New Castle, PA 16101.
