Gladys "Laddie" Thompson Hast, 95 formerly of Bethel Park passed away at Northview Estates on Friday, January 9, 2015. Born in LaGrange, IL on August 30, 1919, Laddie was the daughter of the late Donald and Hattie Drew. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Andrew H. Thompson, Jr. in 1969 and Charles E. Hast in 1991. After the death of her first husband, Laddie became a public assistance caseworker for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, serving the people of Pittsburgh's North Side. She was a member of John McMillen Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park. After her retirement she was a well known recreational ice skater at the South Park rink, regularly cutting figures on the ice into her 80's. She was staunchly independent, yet wise and loving woman whose wisdom and love were freely given, uplifting her family and many friends. Laddie's unassuming intelligence, integrity, graciousness, and hard work served as a shining example for all. Surviving are a son and daughter, Dr. Paul D. (Paulette) Thompson of Langley, WA and Rev. Patricia T. (Wayne) Cleary of Ellwood City, 3 grandchildren, Sarah Evans of Los Angles, CA, Andrea Riordan of Santa Cruz, CA and Grace Kamer of Ford City, PA and 4 great grandchildren, Natalie, Rohnan, Moses and Nathan. Besides her parents and husbands, Laddie was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. In Lieu of flowers, those who wish to are invited to make a memorial donation to their favorite charity. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Cremation was entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, Ellport.
