Gerald Crowley, 91 of Ellwood City, passed away at his residence on Saturday, April 18, 2020.
Born in Ellwood City on May 25, 1928, Gerald was the son of the late John L. and Margaret C. Walsh Crowley. Gerald is survived by his wife, the former Jane Robb whom he married on August 22, 1953. An attorney in Ellwood City for many years, Gerald opened his practice in 1962 and retired in 2012. Gerald was a 1946 graduate of Lincoln High School and a veteran of the Army. After his time in the service Gerald attended Carnegie Tech and later transferred and graduated from Duquesne University. He earned his law degree at Temple University. An active member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Gerald was a former member and past president of Parish Council and was also an usher and money counter. Gerald was the former choir director of the old St. Agatha Church choir in the 1960’s. Gerald was a member of the Ellwood City Rotary Club, a former member and past president of the Ellwood City Jaycees and served on the Ellwood City Area Library Board for many years. He and his wife Jane were avid golfers and members of the Connoquenessing Country Club where Gerald served on the board of directors. Gerald had a very dry sense of humor and enjoyed his time with his monthly “literary society” poker club.
Besides his wife Jane, Gerald is survived by his brother, Ray (JoAnn) Crowley of Valparaiso, IN and a sister, Helen Anstead of Lincoln, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters, Dr. Anne E. Crowley, Margaret DeFede and Loretta Bauer, 3 brothers, John Crowley, Rev. Kenan (Robert) Crowley, OFM Cap. and Rev. Thomas Crowley, a niece, Mary Ann Celli and a nephew, Bob Crowley.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services will be private. Interment will be in Holy Redeemer Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Ave., Ellport.
