George "Skip" Hulick, 79, of 110 Hazel Ave., Ellwood City passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Mary Evans Extended Care Unit of the Ellwood City Hospital. Born in Ellwood City on January 10, 1933 Skip was the son of the late George "Whitey" and Veronica Stevenish Hulick. He married the former Elizabeth "Betty" Lise on May 8, 1954. Skip retired in 1995 after 42 years as the Ellwood City Public Works Director. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Parish. Skip was a 1950 graduate of Lincoln High School and he bowled in the Beaver Falls City 10 Pin League and Beaver County League. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sports. He is survived by his wife, Betty, at home, a son and daughter-in-law, David and Connie Hulick of Eufalla, OK, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and James Cortez of Ellwood City, six grandchildren: David Hulick, Jennifer Hulick, Dr. Eric Cortez and his fiance, Sarah Steiner, Jay and Kate Cortez, Lacy Pettinguil and Kara and Will Leonard, 5 great-grandchildren, a sister, Bonnie Houk of New Castle and a brother, Dennis Hulick of Ellwood City. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Mary Dudick Hulick and a brother, Raymond "Corky" Hulick. Friends will be received at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home and Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport on Thursday, January 3rd from 7-9 PM and Friday, January 4th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Holy Redeemer Church. Interment will follow in Holy Redeemer Cemetery. Contributions can be made in Skip's name to the Holy Redeemer Angel Fund.
