Gary J. Kirkham, 63, of 700 Orchard Ave., Ellwood City passed away at UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, December 7, 2011. Gary was born in Ellwood City on April 26, 1948 to the late John & Frances Kwolek Kirkham. He is survived by his wife, the former Sandy Hiner whom he married on July 22, 1977. He was employed as a crew leader for Parks and Recreation for the Borough of Ellwood City. Gary had retired from the YDC in New Castle and had previously worked at McConnell's Mill, Moraine State Park and the B & W. Gary was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He was a veteran of the Army serving 19 months in Vietnam. An avid hunter, fisherman and gardener, Gary was a member of the Zelienople Sportsman's Club. He also raised Beagles. He enjoyed attending car cruises every weekend he could. In addition to his wife, Sandy, he is survived by daughter, son and son-in-law, Marjorie & Tee Pierre of Chambersburg, PA and Jim Kirkham of Ellwood City, 9 Grandchildren, Dane, Leah, Cole, Chole, Cienna, Seth, Jarret, Shane & Kali, 3 sisters, Sandy McCool of Portersville, Patty Orock of Fombell and Carol Cutich of Franklin Twp. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joannie Haswell and 2 brothers, Ronald & Donald Kirkham. Friends may call at the Joseph A.
