Andrew D. “Andy” Lutz, 86, of Hermitage passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at Quality Life Services of Mercer.
Born in Sharon on September 1, 1938, Andy was the son of Alexander and Magdalene Popp Lutz. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Billie J. Tinsley Lutz. She passed away on April 5, 2025. Andy had worked at Sharon Auto Wrecking and was a member of St. John’s Orthodox Church. Andy was active in Coupe and Sprint Car racing. He has over 400 career wins on tracks in Western Pennsylvania. In 2009, Andy was inducted into the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club Hall of Fame. With Andy, racing was always a family activity along with his wife, son and now his grandson.
Andy is survived by a son and daughter, Michael Lutz of Hermitage and Diana Brest of McKees Rocks, 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents and wife, Andy was preceded in death by a son, Andy Lutz, Jr., 4 brothers, Joseph, John, Peter and Alex Lutz and 4 sisters, Mary Voytko, Anne Gladysz, Julia Kurpe and Bertha Pavlechko.
Friends may call on Monday, May 12, 2025 from 10:00 AM until the time of his Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at St. John’s Orthodox Church, 3180 Morefield Rd., Hermitage with Fr. David Mastroberte, celebrant. Interment will follow in St. John’s Orthodox Church Cemetery.
